The Moeding Alphaton Façade System consists of four simple basic components:
DuoSkin Tile, KeyClip, Generation 06 Support Rail and SpringSeal.

DuoSkin Tile
The DuoSkin Tile is, in visual terms, singularly the most important element of the Alphaton Façade System. Moeding understand, that the realisation of the high quality façades for which they are renowned, starts with an uncompromising approach to tile manufacture.

Moeding DuoSkin Tiles are extruded from clays that have been carefully selected for colour, strength, excellent weathering characteristics and their predictability during the firing process.

The result is a tile that is consistently beautiful and dimensionally precise.

The DuoSkin Tile comprises two leaves of clay connected by perpendicular ribs. The benefits are enhanced impact resistance, when compared to a single leaf tile, and a greater propensity to maintain its shape during both drying and firing. DuoSkin Tiles are strong, exceptionally flat, and yet light in weight.

DuoSkin Tiles are available in a range of eighteen colours and five finishes (see colours and finishes). In every instance the tiles are entirely through coloured with no reliance on surface applied pigmentation, that may be susceptable to damage or discolouration.

Tile Lengths
DuoSkin Tiles are factory cut precisely to the required length and are available in increments of 1mm from 150mm to 1200mm long.

Tile Heights
DuoSkin Tiles have specially formed top and bottom edges allowing the tiles to interlock and create a labyrinth type horizontal joint. Tiles are available in 12.5mm increments from 150mm to 300mm high.

KeyClip
Four KeyClips keep each tile in place. Two KeyClips support and restrain the underside of each tile whilst at the same time restraining the top of the tile below.

Generation 06 Support Rail
Moeding realised more than a decade ago that the use of a horizontal support rail, produced façades that exhibited greater precision in terms of tile and joint alignment. The Generation 06 Support Rail is fixed horizontally to the substructure, and positioned to align with the horizontal joints between the DuoSkin Tiles.

The Generation 06 System has two horizontal rail options, the 06/75 and 06/150. The 06/75 rail has a maximum span of 750mm and is best suited to structural frame backing walls. The 06/150 rail has a maximum span of 1500mm and is normally used in conjunction with blockwork or concrete backing walls.

The Generation 06 Support Rails are typically fixed to an aluminium substructure with a simple pop rivet or in the case of secondary or lightweight steelwork, with a suitably isolated self-drilling, self-tapping screw.

In addition to augmenting the clean crisp lines of the Alphaton System, the Generation 06 Support Rail enables the KeyClips to be positioned in such a way that they optimise the impact resistance of the DuoSkin Tile.

SpringSeal
The SpringSeal joint profiles are inserted into the vertical joints between DuoSkin Tiles as the tiles are fixed. The SpringSeal is manufactured from aluminium and produces a shadow gap between adjacent tiles. The unique profile of the SpringSeal forces the tiles forward ensuring a perfectly flat façade.

The SpringSeal creates a uniform vertical joint width and prevents unwanted sideways displacement of the tiles.
